The focus of this issue is "originality".  It is the subject of my feature article and, to a certain extent, echoed in my comments on page 2 about establishing the "Livewire house style".

The meaning of "original" is -

  • unique
  • innovative
  • inventive
  • imaginative

Whether you are a writer or a publisher - "originality" is one of the keys to success. Writers must use  inventive tactics to produce a novel that will stand out in the crowd. Publishing editors have to use their instincts to select the books that contain the highest degree of originality.

When I read a submission, the first question I ask is - "Is this story original?"

So, as you contemplate your next writing project, think "originality" and "style" and you may surprise yourself with the outcome.
