Two 55,000-word contemporary romance novels
linked by a short epilogue at the end of Book 1
Many readers often wish for a continuation of a satisfying love story they’ve read. It’s sometimes disappointing not to know where life takes two great characters who, fall in love and end up together. Some authors have trouble letting go of characters when they’ve finished writing a novel. In Love Sequels, Story 1 (written in the present time) should focus on the initial meeting, attraction and developing romantic relationship between the hero and heroine. The epilogue at the end of this story should fast-forward the couple into the future (start at any year and progress up to 2020). In Story 2 authors are challenged to explore the relationship in day-to-day situations. We’re looking for life’s "ups and downs" and an outcome that offers readers something to think about. Scenarios such as "unrealistic expectations of marriage", "communication breakdown", "extra-marital temptations", "growing out of each other" and "health problems" are some possibilities. You’re challenged to break all the rules and push the boundaries, keeping in mind that these people have a strong love for each other. We want dramatic, contemporary situations that offer a deep insight into the personality and character of your Heroine and Hero. Age and character type is open… as is the setting. Sexual content should be in keeping with the types of characters you’ve formulated. The ending is entirely up to the author, but
it should be uplifting and reflect the true nature of the characters. If you can
write a sad ending that leaves the reader satisfied with that character’s
contribution to life, then do so. |
