60,000 - 65,000 words. What becomes of the broken hearted?
Either your heroine or hero (or both) can be recovering from a broken heart or the tragic end to a meaningful relationship. At the story outset, they are not quite ready to put their heart on the line again. But a chance encounter provides the opportunity for them to try again. These stories must be emotionally charged and psychologically challenging for this heroine and hero. The romantic relationship should be hampered by a reluctance (by one or both of the main characters) to get involved again. These novels can be either sexually explicit or tempered with sweet sensuality, depending on the nature of your characters. We’re looking for original, contemporary storylines with an extra something that makes your characters memorable. Either or both protagonists can have children from a previous relationship, but the kids must not be the focus of the story. The setting is wide open – anywhere these people live or work is the right place for the romance to develop. Marriage at the end of the story is mandatory. |
